I’m a singer-songwriter from Vancouver Island, British Columbia creating indie-folk and speak-sung songs. My music is a collaboration with accomplished classical guitarist Scott Cameron from Eastern Ontario.

Touches of flamenco, reggae, and blues help span the distance between wistful love longs, brooding tales of fixation, and playful odes to friendship.

Scott and I met in the 90’s when I was a kid carrying my guitar up the small streets of Merrickville, Ontario for guitar lessons. As my guitar teacher, he would kindly come up with arrangements for songs I wrote about pet dogs, friendship, and school crushes.

We lost touch for decades when I graduated from school and moved to the West Coast. Scott stayed busy on the strings putting out several albums, including High Lonesome with Off the Grid, opening for acts including Basia Bulat.

When I hit 40 and found myself in the deep seas of motherhood and work, I decided to unearth my creative side - pick up the guitar and get writing again.

I tracked Scott down in search of more songwriting sessions, and he used Skype to present weekly challenges.

It went a little like this:

“Write a song in ¾ time in the Key of D.” 

“Write a song with a 12-bar blues progression.” 

“Write a song using these two seventh chords.” 

“Don’t even question whether it’s good. Just go for it.”

In time, I found my flow, and the music got more interesting. 

Using cloud storage to send WAV files back and forth from Ontario to BC, we decided to collaborate on a single, which grew into an album, Soft Landing. These songs are written and sung by me, with Scott on guitar (and arranging and producing each track).
